Karina Gonzalez Herrera, Ph.D., consults with Bridge Admissions part-time as she is the Assistant Director of Diversity and Minority Affairs in the Division of Medical Sciences at Harvard University. She works closely with colleagues in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) on continuing, as well as developing and implementing, new initiatives to increase the number of diverse candidates enrolling in and completing Ph.D. degrees in the life sciences. She coordinates several academic and professional development programs; advises students in Harvard GSAS’ post-baccalaureate program, the Research Scholar Initiative; co-advises the Minority Biomedical Scientists of Harvard (MBSH) graduate student group, and coordinates recruitment efforts.
Karina completed a B.S. and M.S. from California State University San Marcos and a Ph.D. in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University. As a first-generation, previously undocumented Latinx from Guatemala, Karina is passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
